Investigation into alleged supervisory pressure by the MNB banking supervision
Criminal proceedings for abuse of office. According to the suspicion, persons directing departments of the Hungarian National Bank's Banking Supervision Centre exerted pressure in 2023 on a Hungarian bank with an Austrian parent company. The aim of the pressure was the resignation of a supervisory board member of the parent company. Investigators questioned seven persons as suspects. The prosecution rejected the complaints against the suspicions, searches and seizures.
